In Florida, the "turtle glass code" refers to regulations that restrict the amount of light allowed through windows and doors in coastal areas to protect sea turtles. Specifically, it requires that all windows and glass doors within line of sight of the beach have a light transmittance value (light transmission from inside to outside) of 45% or less. This helps prevent artificial light from confusing sea turtle hatchlings and nesting females.
